Trend Update: 2018 New York Fashion Week

Fashion is important to us here at Electra. I mean, come on. We have a whole line of Fashion Cruisers. Therefore, it's a no-brainer that New York Fashion Week is a big deal. And you can bet we paid attention to the 2018 Collections. We love to see what new trends emerge and this year, our friends like Alexander Wang, Oscar de la Renta, Marc Jacobs, Tory Burch, Calvin Klein, Michael Kors and Tom Ford seem to agree on three big ones: metallic fabrics, hot pink and florals. So, look out spring because these fashion statements are now officially in style.

From aluminum foil dresses to metallic sequined outfits, models were strutting down the New York runway in their designer silver and metallic-colored ensemble. Lucky for us, metallic bikes such as our Townie Go! 8i in Rose Gold, Townie Go! 8i in Polished Silver and Townie Go! 8i in Graphite fit right in. It's a bonus that e-bikes are also a hot commodity in our industry right now. All in all, if you want a bike drenched in silver, we've got you covered.

Pink is another hot color this year, especially hot pink. Alexander Wang, Tory Burch and Oscar de la Renta decked their models out in this fiesty femenine color. Electra never shies away from a bold color, so we dig it.

The third trend we saw at Fashion Week was florals and it's no surprise. Spring is here and that means flowers are blooming not only outside but all over clothes and beautiful bikes, including our Ladies' Amsterdam Forget-Me-Not 3i in Yellow. Additionally, we have some awesome floral accessories like our Floral Helmet, Springtime Helmet, Floral Bell, and a variety of handlebar flowers.

While we find inspiration everywhere - from taco stands to local beaches to cities around the world - it's fun to see where haute couture is headed. Although you may not wear a Chanel jacket or DVF wrap dress while riding, we can appreciate the time, attention to detail and love the designers have for their collections. Just as we do with every single bike we create.
